TheSuzyDay
Denim Day is a great day to talk to your peers, colleagues, family and friends about victim blaming (if you’re not doing it every other day…).

If someone comes to tell you they are a survivor of violence it’s never OK to say any of the following things:
What were you wearing?Did you say no?
Did you fight?
Where were you?
Were you drunk? But I thought you liked him/her?
But she’s a girl.
But you’re a boy.
He/She/They didn’t mean it.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
What you CAN say:
I’m sorry.
I support you.
Thank you for telling me.
Can I do anything for you?Would you like me to find you resources?
Unsure? Curious if what you want to say is appropriate? Tweet @thesuzyday and ask me & I’ll let you know before you hurt your friend. Or—if you’re in CoMO—stop by the RSVP Center and ask how you can support a survivor.
